HypeAthonReadathon 2/2020: Faebruary!

I can‘t believe it‘s February already!! This year isn‘t really treating me as well as I had hoped, but you just gotta keep on moving forward I guess. I‘m lucky enough that I have very lovely friends who help me through the hard times though, and I love them very much☺️ Anyway, onto the post!

This month‘s theme of the Hypeathon is Faebruary! I was very excited for a theme with fae for the past few months, because let‘s be honest – they are just very in-style at the moment! I think they are pretty much what in 2010 were vampires!! Also, the ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas is one of my favourite series ever, and I have heard soo much of many books contain fairies (actually, what is the difference between fae and fairies? If you know, please enlighten me!) that I couldn‘t wait any longer!

I‘m so glad that Ellie (ReadtoRamble) and I decided to turn February into Faebruary! We decided to read The Cruel Prince by Holly Black and The Field Guide (the first in The Spiderwick Chronicles series) by Holly Black and Tony Diterlizzi together for the month. Since I already finished the latter and I‘m also sooo behind on all those hyped books with this theme, I decided to also try to read An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson and a book that I‘m so excited for which has been on my TBR for ages now: The Modern Fairytales by Holly Black, which contains Tithe, Valiant, and Ironside. I think it‘s safe to say that I probably won‘t finish them all, but there‘s no harm in trying! Also, look at how often Holly Black is mentioned here! Is she the queen of fairy books or what?!

What are you reading for Faebruary? Do you have any additional recommendations for us? We‘d love to know! Get in touch with us on our Twitter account @Hypethon!

Thank you for reading! Happy Faebruary💕

  1. I, for some reason, am in love with this theme! Faeries are definitely in right now!

Also from my understanding, fae, fay, fey, fairy, faerie, faery, etc are all just different spellings of the same thing.

    1. Haha! For some reason😋💗 thank you!! Oooh, that makes sense!! Any other book you think we absolutely have to read?

  2. You should read The Falconer Trilogy by Elizabeth May! It’s a Scottish Steampunk about saving the world from evil fae while the protagonist battles PTSD from an abusive evil fae when she was captured. May does an excellent weaving trauma and how her characters overcome it while they distinguish fact from fiction regarding myths about fae that have led to discrimination between humans and fae.

From what I’ve read fae are evil creatures who love to trick and manipulate humans into wrongdoings. Fairies are the good fae.
