“Behind the Screen” – A Book Blogger Tag

Yay! I was tagged by the very lovely Holly (and I’m not just saying this – she really is, plus she has an amazing taste in books!) from The Writing Finch to do the “Behind the Screen” – Book Blogger Tag and I’m so excited to answer some more questions! Ever since I was nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award and was able to answer some questions for that purpose, I started to actually like sharing more about me on here, so I’m excited for this new opportunity! The “Behind the Screen” tag was first created by Amber from Du Livre, who is also an amazing book blogger, so definitely go and check out her blog (as well as Holly’s)!

Without further ado, let’s get straight into the questions!

  • When did you start blogging and what was your first review?

This one’s exciting, because I’ve only had my blog for a little while now! I think I’ve started it in the end of May (2018), and the first book review I wrote was on Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl, which I quite enjoyed, so it was also a good one!

  • Who/what inspired you to start blogging?

I’ve been wanting to start a blog for years now… I have studied English Literature and I’ve been a bookworm ever since I can remember, and one of my favorite activities ever is to sit down with a friend and ramble on for hours and hours about my latest read and new favorite book, so starting a book blog was on my radar for quite a while. Between all my classes and reading (and writing) assignments though, I’ve never really found the time to do it. Now that I’m out of uni and have found myself to be missing the “reading with a purpose”-part, I’m quite happy to be able to share all my thoughts on here!

  • What is a blog-related goal you have?

Honestly, I would be over the moon if my blog provided me with some outside writing opportunities in the future – not only would I love to write a book one day myself, I would also LOVE to work as an editor (or something else that is book-related, but I quite like the thought of me being able to help other writers making the most of their books, and also finally being able to putting all the knowledge I acquired over the years at uni to practice in a book-related field!). If this is too much to ask though (lol), I would absolutely be fine with it if my blog just continued to grow and acquired some faithful readers over time! Also engaging with other book lovers around the globe is so much fun, I already love it!

  • What is the one thing you wish someone told you about blogging?

It’s quite time-consuming (but oh so worth it), and sometimes you have to write posts knowing that nobody or just very few people will read them, but you have to keep going!

  • What is your biggest blog-related accomplishment?

Hm, well, if you can call it an accomplishment to be nominated for an award, I think this would be my nomination for the Mystery Blogger Award that I talked about in the beginning! However, if we get away from the numbers of followers and clicks, I think the biggest accomplishment for myself is that I’ve found people online who seem to enjoy talking to me about my favorite subject, which is probably the best thing of all!

  • What type of posts do you enjoy writing?

Well, writing book reviews comes most natural to me, because they are something I wanted to share with the world for a long time, and I enjoy reading them most. It feels like talking to a friend and sharing my opinion with them, and this is something I enjoy doing anyway. However, tags are also a lot of fun, and I’m always bursting with happiness when I’ve been tagged by someone 🙂

  • Where do you usually blog? What is your set-up like?

I usually blog at my desk or the one in the kitchen, I don’t really like typing on the couch or in bed – to me, that’s the opposite of comfortable. I love to have a cup of tea near me, and when there is chocolate, that’s even better!

  • What was your last five star read?

Oh yesss, time for me to praise A Court of Mist and Fury – again! I love this book so so much, and I’m so glad I picked this series up! When I was younger, I used to read lots of fantasy, but kind of lost track of it during the last couple of years, when I became a huge fan of contemporary novels, particularly chic-lit. With A Court of Thorns and Roses, I’ve found my way back to fantasy, which I’m so happy about.

  • What was your last one star read?

I don’t think I’ve ever given a book one star only – I don’t think a book can even be this bad – so that there is nothing positive in it at all – or can it? I’m scared that the next book I’ll pick up now will prove wrong lol.

  • What are three words that make you pick up a book?

Enchanting, romantic, and magical.

  • What is your Hogwarts house?

Gryffindor all the way (and yes, I’m aware that there are other houses:D)

  • What is your favourite reading environment?

Oh, I’m happily reading wherever I am – when the book is good, the environment doesn’t really matter to me. Though I have to say I love it when the weather is gloomy and rainy, and I can snuggle up on the couch or my bed. My dream seat would be a proper armchair for reading, though, which I hope I will get myself one day!

  • What advice would you give to new bloggers?

Ohhh, am I in the position to give advice to others already, with my blog only being around for a couple of weeks? I don’t know… I would suggest plunging straight into it, and enjoying every step along the way. Create a Twitter account and maybe also an Instagram (Pinterest, Facebook, whatever you like), and try to engage with others. Not only will it drive people to your site, you will also have so much fun that numbers and clicks won’t matter that much. So, most of all, just enjoy what you’re doing!

Whooop whoop – you’ve come this far, which means you have stayed until the end! Thanks so much for reading, and thank you again to Holly for tagging me!
